Crossrail proposes a tunnel from the Great Western Main Line near Ladbroke Grove to a portal at Chiswick Common. A station is proposed at Turnham Green to provide interchange with London Underground services.
The Crossrail line would run under Thornton Avenue just to the south of the existing District/Piccadilly line tracks according to designs published by Crossrail
The scheme proposes a station building to the east of Turnham Green Terrace. The new platforms would be approximately 14 metres below ground and access would be via escalators and lifts.

Some businesses
on Turnham Green Terrace have already been informed that compulsory purchase
orders may be issued for their premises.
The new station building which would be on the corner of Thornton Avenue
would contain full ticketing facilities and barrier gates and would combine
with the existing station to allow access to both London Underground and
Crossrail via an extension of the existing subway.

Crossrail are in discussions with LUL to increase the District line service
from Ealing Broadway to 10 trains an hour and scrap the Richmond branch.
They claim that the journey time from Turnham Green to Paddington would
be under 10 minutes and Liverpool St. could be reached in under 20 minutes.
There is no mention of a Piccadilly line service being introduced at Turnham
Green. Previously Crossrail had said that they would be negotiating with
London Underground to introduce this service. On a recent visit to Chiswick
Bob Kiley stated that he was asking Tim O'Toole the managing director
of LUL to review this issue again.
New platforms
would be situated underground beneath Chiswick Back Common on a level
section of the Crossrail tunnels. West of this point the tracks would
rise on a 'cut and cover'
ramp to emerge in the vicinity of Bridge Street which is at the southern
end of the current footbridge.
The ramp and station would be constructed from a site on the Back Common.
The District line would be diverted southwards onto a temporary alignment to provide space
for the construction.
On completion of construction the site would be reinstated. The footbridge
that currently crosses to Acton Green would be removed and replaced by
a level foot path.
Crossrail would approach Chiswick underground to the east of Emlyn Road, passing under Palgrave Road, Stamford Brook Road, Gainsborough Road and Prebend Gardens. An access shaft would be built on Stamford Brook Green. The shaft would be approximately 10 metres in diameter. The design of the surface structure will be subject to further consultation as the project develops. The drawing on the Crossrail web site shows how the structure could look.
