All the Society's talks take place on the third Monday of the month at the Chiswick Memorial Club, Afton House, Bourne Place, Chiswick W4, starting at 7.30pm. Remember that Afton House does not open until 7pm; please do not expect to be let in before that time.

The Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society

Monday 19 November - Some Nursery Gardeners in Georgian Brentford. An illustrated talk by Val Bott, about the Greenings, the Ronalds and some of their contemporaries. a sequel to the talk earlier this year on Strand on the Green nurserymen.

Monday 17 December - Christmas Meeting - usual annual get-together - small contributions of seasonal food to share will be very welcome, with drinks on sale. Bookstall offers a chance for last-minute present buying and they ’ll have jolly things to do with a local history theme.

The Society's Monday evening talks take place at the Chiswick Memorial Club, Bourne Place, Chiswick W4, starting at 7.30pm. The Club opens at 7pm; do not expect to be let in before that time.

Other events

The Thomas Layton Trust’s Heritage Lottery Fund-supported project is now complete. The new web-site at www.thomaslayton.org.uk has information about Layton, aspects of Brentford history and his collection and a searchable list of his books will soon be added. In addition a well illustrated book on Layton by Mike Galer is now available at £4.50 at Society meetings.
