Strand-On-The-Green Infant and Nursery School is celebrating the results of its latest OFSTED inspection. The report gives a glowing account of what has been achieved at the school.

Headteacher Jeanette Davies said: “We are delighted with this report which recognises the hard work and dedication of staff and governors and the important role parents and the wider community play in the life of the school."

An inspection was carried out from 28-30 June 2004 and the subsequent report highlighted a number of areas where the school excelled.

The report praises the pupils’ personal qualities, including their spiritual, social and cultural development, and says there is an outstanding commitment to equality of opportunities, ensuring every child has the chance to achieve and is fully included in all aspects of school life.

The overall quality of education provided by the school is described as good. Standards in English and Mathematics are above the national average and have improved faster than the national trend at the end of year 2.

The school’s leadership and management also are mentioned with the Headteacher, Jeanette Davies, singled out for her very strong leadership. The strong support from the Deputy Headteacher, staff and governors is also noted.

Parents have a very positive view of the school and pupils are pleased to be there. According to OFSTED the school gives very good value for money and there is a supportive and caring community where partnership with parents is highly valued. The pupils enjoy coming to school, they behave well, learn effectively, achieve well and attendance rates are good.
