Dean Gardens Murderer Starts Life Prison Sentence

For the murder of 19-year-old Fuad Burale

THE man who battered a teenager to death in Dean Gardens Park, West Ealing, is starting a life prison sentence today.

Myles Cadogan, 24, of Queens Park, was yesterday found guilty of murdering 19-year-old Fuad Buraleh by a jury at the Old Bailey.

Myles Cadogan has been found guilty of murder and faces life in prison having confessed to hitting Fuad over the head five times with a bottle before leaving him to die. He led a vigalante mob to hunt down the teen after he spat at his father Carl on a 207 bus.

Five other men, including 67-year-old Carl Cadogan, his father, were also jailed today for their part in the savage assault.

Carl, of Lambourne Close, Hanwell, was given an 18-month sentence for violent disorder, after phoning his son to round up the mob.

Lee Beavis, 26, of Windemere Avene, Eastcote, Scott Baker, 22, of Long Drive Ruislip, and Richard O’Donohue, of Browning Avenue, Hanwell, were given 30 months terms for the same offence.

Anthony Sheehan, of Acock Grove, Northolt, was given a two-years imprisonment for his part in the murder.

All five were cleared of manslaughter.

Fuad had been out socialising in the Ealing area with a friend and was making his way home on a route 207 bus, when he got involved in a verbal dispute with Carl Cadogan over spitting.

The pensioner was caught on camera trying to kick Fuad, and said to him “I'm going to teach you” before calling his son to come and “sort something out”.

Myles Cadogan arrived with four friends and they drove around the streets in two cars looking for Fuad and his cousin who was with him that night.

When they found him, Myles Cadogan launched an attack described in court as “relentless and merciless” which left Fuad with multiple fractures to his skull and jaw.

Aftab Jafferjee, prosecuting at the Old Bailey, said: “It was the equivalent of hunting in a pack to ensure results.

“This was retribution spawned out of wounded pride and anger, enabled by the mob mentality of Carl Cadogan's son and his friends.

“Fuad Buraleh was beaten to death, drunk and defenceless, on the receiving end of what was on any view a relentless and merciless attack.

“Within half an hour of spitting he lay dead.”

"Fuad's life was tragically cut short as he had been on the brink of adulthood in what can only be described as a brutal attack," said Detective Inspector Colin Wetherill, of the HSSC. "Today, the man who took his young life has been sentenced to life imprisonment for this dreadful crime.

"I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of Fuad's friends who assisted us in our investigation when, at times, they may have been frightened to speak to us about witnessing their friend's death.

"I would also like to pay tribute to the strength and dignity of Fuad's father, and of his extended family, and to express my thanks to the Somali Community who were instrumental in assisting us with appeals in supporting the investigation that helped bring Fuad's killers to justice. Our thoughts remain with Fuad's family and friends".
